It was late at night, and Sarah sat in her room, the only sound the faint ticking of the clock. She had always hated the quiet of her old house, the creaks and groans of the floorboards making her feel uneasy. But tonight was different. Tonight, the house seemed too quiet--almost too still.She had just finished reading a book when she heard it: a soft scratching noise coming from behind her bedroom door. She froze, heart racing. It sounded like fingernails running down the wood, slow and deliberate. The scratching stopped for a moment, and Sarah's breath caught in her throat. Then, in a low whisper, a voice came from the other side of the door. "Let me in."Her blood ran cold. No one else was supposed to be in the house--her parents were out of town, and she was alone. The voice sounded wrong, like it didn't belong to any person she knew. She stood up, her legs trembling, and crept over to the door. "Who's there?" she whispered, trying to steady her voice.There was no answer. But the scratching started again--
